- I can't believe we are at the tail end of the first week of January. That's nuts. And I didn't really get to enjoy it. I feel like Christmas was forever ago, that's how long and stressful my days have been since then.
- We are moving forward with the house. Our offer has been accepted and we are getting the inspections done on Monday and Wednesday. This is the part I'm nervous about, and has been from the beginning. I figured they would want us to buy their house, it's been on the market for a while. It's a 15 year old home in South Texas that has been unoccupied for 6 months during a drought. That could be a huge problem, though I suspect they have had someone watering the grass and foundation because the grass is still green. The roof could present the most problems, because it will need to be replaced in the near future. That's fine, as long as the near future is a couple years off. Down here windstorm insurance is a big deal, so not only do we have to have the roof inspected, but we also have to have an insurance agent out here to make sure they will insure the roof before we buy it. It's all very stressful, and I hate that we won't have all the inspections done until Wednesday.
- The girls had their 18 month checkup. It's a little behind, since they turned 18 months in November. Ky has a lazy eye, so we have an appointment with the opthamologist on Friday. I am hoping it will be a simple fix, like a bit of patching or glasses or both. I really hope she doesn't need surgery.
- Cadence has continued her obsession with shoes, and the big pack of plastic shoes from her great grandma didn't help. She is always clomping around the house in plastic heals. The funniest part is she's pretty good at it. She swishes her hips and stomps like she's on a catwalk. Meanwhile, Ky tried the shoes on for the first time on Thursday. She looked like she put ice skates on for the first time, trying to walk around the tile floor in those. I had to hold her up for quite a while while Cadence ran circles around her. She's got the hang of it now, but isn't quite ready for the catwalk.
- Isaiah has been cracking me up lately. His vocabulary is huge and quite colorful, and he can use that most 4-year-old's don't know exist. I make a point not to dumb down my language when I'm speaking with my kids, so they get used to hearing words like "extraordinary" and "ridiculous" and "fabulous" and whatever else comes to mind. It's funny to here my colorful words coming out of his little mouth. By colorful, I do mean bright and big, not curse words.
- I'm feeling overwhelmed. Even if we don't get this house, our lease is up at the end of February, so we have to do something. I'm trying to clean out my house and start packing it, but it's hard with 3 kids. I can't believe how much crap we have, even though I am constantly de-cluttering and tossing things. It's maddening.
That's all folks. Come back next week when I once again dump everything in a BPP.

CONGRATS on your offer being accepted!!! I'll be thinking about you and hoping for the best from the inspections this week!
ReplyDeleteHope the house passes all inspections! Congratulations. :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you lots and lots of luck with the new house!!!! Happy New Year!!! It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but you sound up to the challenge. Keep the lists going and keep plugging away. The times of the craziest upheaval are the times that progress forward happens at lightening speeds.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear your updates!
Those plastic shoes drive me over the edge!
ReplyDeleteFollow your gut on the house...you can always rent something if you don't find the right place. I know that would mean picking up all of your crap and moving it again, but that would be better than being stuck in a place that was a money pit.
Love BPP...bullet points always help me think.
